Paying for College has Changed A LOT!
The college landscape has changed dramatically over the last several decades. Not only have the costs risen well over 500% since the 1980’s, the student competition is incredibly fierce. Can you imagine your straight A+ student being rejected by your state flagship university? 45% more students are applying to college than applied a decade ago, yet the available seats are virtually the same. College has become big business with a supply and demand mentality. This has created a need for a new way to look at how we plan for college.
Get Informed & Get More Money for College
Today, a family can easily exceed $150,000 to $250,000 in college costs for one child! Providing a college education for our children has become one of the top 3 financial purchases in our lives. Gone are the days where good grades, good SAT/ACT scores, and/or athletic ability guaranteed scholarships and grants. The state and federal governments are providing less monies and expecting families to pay a lot more. These days there are two different prices for a college education- one for the informed family and one for the uninformed. Which price will you pay?
Increase Your Child’s Earning Potential
The increased earning power your child should expect over their lifetime with a college degree verses someone with only a high school diploma is more than half. Yet today almost 47% of students under the age of 27 holding a college degree are working in jobs that don’t require a college degree. It doesn’t have to be this way!
At Your College Planning Coach we use a structured approach to help you accomplish your goals for your student’s college education. We have assembled a team of experts to provide your student the tools needed to find their career path, major, and find the right fit college they will flourish in, all without breaking the bank! We provide parents with a complete financial education so you can make the decisions that will work for your family and help minimize your college out of pocket expenses.
Our mission is to provide clarity and reality and minimize the stress so you can actually enjoy your students last few years of high school. We help you make the informed decisions you need to save you and your student from a lifetime burden of debt without having to sacrifice or put off your own retirement goals in the process. We are here to make college affordable, one family at a time.

In 1973, I graduated from Dartmouth HS, Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I followed my heart to attend Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI with my then boyfriend Jim Lee. Jim and I married in September 1975. We have 2 grown children, 3 beautiful grandchildren, 3 dogs, 2 cats,1 grand-dog and have been living on a very peaceful 12.5 acre property in Broad Run, VA for the past 21 years. One day the plan is to have a horse or two, since we know horses and grandkids go together like peanut butter and jelly!
What made me decide on a career in financial services? Our kids were almost grown and it was time for me to focus on a career outside of the home. Our financial advisor had always been so helpful. I wanted to do something where I could make an impact to help families and feel good about what I did everyday and so began my career in Financial Services in 1996.
Sometime around 2004 I decided to focus on the specialty of College Planning and Funding when I saw how student loan debt was hampering so many parents and students from reaching their retirement goals. Little did I know at the time just how specialized college planning was!
